5-Amino-1MQ

A small-molecule inhibitor of the enzyme NNMT, not a peptide despite how it is sold. Mouse studies of this chemical class reduced body weight and fat on a high-fat diet. We found no human studies.

What Is 5-Amino-1MQ?

5-Amino-1MQ is a methylquinolinium compound that blocks nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), an enzyme involved in cellular energy metabolism. It is a small molecule, not a peptide, even though it is often sold alongside peptides.

In mice fed a high-fat diet, a potent NNMT inhibitor of this class reduced body weight and fat mass without changing food intake. There are no human studies of 5-Amino-1MQ that we could find, so we treat it as an early laboratory finding.

  • Prescribed only after a clinician reviews your history.
  • Dose and course are set by your clinician, not by you.
  • Results vary, and we do not promise outcomes.

Eligibility

Your clinician makes the final decision after reviewing your history and labs. Established, evidence-based weight treatments come first.

Competitive Athletes

Many peptides are prohibited in sport, or fall under rules that change. A prescription does not establish sporting eligibility, so we ask about anti-doping rules before presenting any option.

Often a Good Fit If

  • ✓Interested in metabolic health and comfortable with mouse-level evidence only
  • ✓A recent metabolic panel and HbA1c
  • ✓Already working on nutrition, activity and sleep
  • ✓Open to stopping if there is no measurable or subjective benefit

Not Prescribed If

  • —Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or actively trying to conceive
  • —Active or recent cancer diagnosis, or a history your clinician judges to carry risk
  • —Expecting a guaranteed or fast outcome rather than a considered trial
  • —A history of liver disease, unless your specialist directs it
  • —Prior serious hypersensitivity to the compound or its excipients

Key Risks, Stated Plainly

There is no human safety information for 5-Amino-1MQ that we could find. In the mouse study the inhibitor produced no observable adverse effects at the doses used, which does not establish safety in people. Because NNMT is involved in cellular energy and methylation pathways, effects in humans are unknown.

Contact care the same day for

Significant swelling or pain at an injection site, signs of allergic reaction, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or any new or unexplained symptom during a course.

What Is Measured

Because there is no human evidence, we define what we are tracking and what would end the course before starting.

Weight and Waist Trend

Tracked over weeks, not days.

Metabolic Panel

Glucose, lipids, liver and kidney markers, at baseline and repeat.

Tolerance

Injection sites and any new symptoms, reviewed early.

Course Endpoint

A scheduled reassessment against your original goal.

How Clinicians Review Your Response

You and Your Clinician Look at the Same Data

Symptoms you report, laboratory results and, if you connect one, wearable trends are reviewed together before any change.

A Physician-Led Review Every 90 Days

Included in your monthly price. Your clinician decides whether to continue, adjust the dose, change course or stop.

Clinical Judgment Decides

Measurements inform the decision. They do not make it, and no dashboard changes your dose on its own.

Your Care Sequence

Questionnaire

Share your goals, history and any sport or work rules in about ten minutes. No card required.

Video Visit

Your clinician reviews your history and medications, explains the evidence plainly, and decides whether this fits you.

Delivery

If prescribed, medication ships from a licensed pharmacy with supplies and written instructions.

Reassessment

A scheduled review decides whether to stop, extend or change course. Courses are not renewed by default.

Common Questions About 5-Amino-1MQ

Is 5-Amino-1MQ a Peptide?+

No. It is a small-molecule NNMT inhibitor. It is often sold with peptides, but it is a different kind of compound.

What Did the Mouse Study Show?+

In mice on a high-fat diet, a potent NNMT inhibitor of this class significantly reduced body weight and white adipose mass, decreased fat-cell size and lowered total cholesterol, with no change in total food intake and no observable adverse effects.

Has It Been Tested in People?+

We found no published human studies of 5-Amino-1MQ.

Is It FDA-Approved?+

No. It is not an FDA-approved drug, and compounded versions are not evaluated by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality.

Is It Available Through SOVRYN?+

5-Amino-1MQ is prescribed only after a clinician reviews your history and decides it fits. Start with the assessment and your clinician will tell you what is and is not appropriate.

The Proposed Mechanism

5-Amino-1MQ rests on one line of mouse research and a plausible mechanism.

NNMT Inhibition

It blocks an enzyme that consumes nicotinamide and methyl groups in fat cells.

NAD+ and SAM

In cells, inhibitors reduced the NNMT product and raised NAD+ and SAM, which may explain the metabolic effect.

Less Fat Storage

In adipocytes the inhibitors suppressed lipogenesis, and in obese mice they reduced fat mass.

What We Can and Cannot Tell YouEvidence and regulatory status+

What the Evidence Supports

A clear mechanism (NNMT inhibition increases cellular NAD+ and SAM) and a mouse study in which a potent inhibitor reversed diet-induced obesity without reducing food intake.

What It Does Not (Yet)

No human studies, no established dose or safety, and no evidence it produces weight loss in people.
